06.01.09 - Bundesliga: Zebras with show against Lemgo

THW Kiel had not problems to defeat 33:23 TVB Lemgo on home soil in a game from the 11th round of the domestic league. A great Omeyer, a strong defence, letal fastbfreaks and the game with the pivot made the difference.

There is no handball team in Germany who reacts better when it is confronted with injury problems. Without Andreas Palicka, Börge Lund and Nikola, all injured, a clear win against one of the top teams of the championships looked in theory difficult to obtain.
But on the field the things were totally different. Practically, Lemgo kept the pace only for 11 minutes, when it was 6:6. It was the moment when Titi Omeyer got in his role, saved some shots and his team was suddenly in front with 10:6/17. The goals on fastbreak and the assists from the back line to the pivot Marcus Ahlm assured the hosts an excellent margin after 30 minutes: 18:11.
In the second half, Omeyer continued his show, helping his squad to have a 10 goal advance after 43 minutes, 27:17. The visitors came closer to seven goals, 29:22, within 8 minutes to go, but in the end they couldn´t avoid the 10 goals defeat, 33:23.
Reasons to celebrate had also the new goalkeeper of the team, the Swede Herdeiro Lucau. He came for the last 4 minutes in and took no goal from action, having two saves! He could be beaten only from a 7 meter shot. A perfect debut, under the eyes of the former coach of THW, Noka Serdarusic, for the first time as spectator in "Sparkassen Arena" after his dismissal.
