THW Kiel defeated Stralsund 38:25 tonight, on home soil, and qualified for the next round of the competition. On Saturday, the both teams will stay again face to face, this time in Stralsund, for the 10th round of the Bundesliga.
Without Omeyer, Lövgren and Kavticnik from the first minute on the field, Kiel leaded with 3:0, 6:3, 7:4, but saw themselves equalised after 15 minutes, 7:7. More than this, the visitors kept the pace within 8 minutes to go from the first half (10:10), but that couldn´t impede the favourite to go in the break in advantage, 15:10.
The second half was a pleasure cruise for THW, who extended permanently their lead. It was 21:11 after 39 minutes and 30:16 after 48 minutes, the last being the maximum difference between the squads. The final whistle brought a consistent victory for the home team, 38:25.
