Best Left Back of the World Championships 2007 in Germany, Handball Player of the Year 2007 in Germany, Champions League winner, German Champion, German Cup winner with THW Kiel, best goalscorer of the Champions League. To make it short, Nikola won almost everything in 2007 and in all the competitions mentioned above he was a decisive factor for his team. And we say almost because France didn´t stand a chance to make it through the WCh´s final 2007 from rather subjective reasons and in the end they finished only fourth.
But Nikola is much more than a simply handball player and fits perfectly to the profile that IHF looks for, "that of an model and an ambassador of our sport", to quote the IHF´s text. The other nominees for the title are Eduard Kokcharov (Russia, left wing), Michael Kraus (Germany, centre-back), Marcin Lijewski (Poland, right back, Mariusz Jurasik (Poland, right wing) and Michael Knudsen (Denmark, pivot).
So, if you want to show your favourite player that you really appreciate him, all you have to do is to access the official website of the IHF, www.ihf.info, to read the article "World Handball Players of the Year 2007: Who will succeed Krause and Balic?", to follow the instructions and to vote for Niko at the latest by 1st July 2008. In addition, you must also vote for one of the girls nominated for the same contest. If you do not wish to vote online or you don´t have this possibility, you may also send a postcard indicating your favourites to the following address:
