07.01.09 - Kiel wins, Nikola with successful comeback

The Zebras beat VfL Gummersbach 32:27, in their own living room, in "Köln Arena", after a very good second half. Nikola brought his team in lead for the first time and had with 4 goals also his contribution to the victory!

The German Champions could keep up very seldom with the hosts in the first half. After 3:3 in the 6th minute, Gummersback took the control of the game and leaded until the break with maximum 3 goals (7:4, 10:7, 12:9 13:10, 14:11). Nikola returned on the field after four weeks with a goal! In the 16th minute, he scored with his first shot for 10:12. Kiel had the chance to equalise, but Stefan Lövgren missed a 7 meter shot when the score was 14:13. Ilic and his colleagues extended again their lead to three goals, 17:14 (29.) but Marcus Ahlm and Vid Kavticnik reduced the diference before the break to 17:16.
In the second half, the visitors took the lead for the first time after 38 minutes. Nikola scored for 22:21 and he was also the one who kept his team in front, making the 24:23 (42.). For ten minutes, Gummersbach didn´t manage to send the ball in goal, perfect opportunity for THW to extend their margin to 28:23 with 9 minutes to go and to win in the end with 32:27.
