Yes, you can clearly say it: "What a chance"!. We confirm it, the NK22 Team had the big honour and the great luck to share with Nikola three days of his life. As apotheosis, the clash between Kiel and Hamburg.
Friday, 3rd October
22:00: At last we are there. Almost there...The airplane has just landed in Hamburg. Direction Kiel, 80 kilometres in the north...
22:30: "Hi, guys, did you have a nice travel?" Niko, totally relaxed, opens the door of his flat. "Did you eat? No, you didn´t? I prepare you some pastry. Make yourself comfortable."
In his big four rooms appartment, situated out of Kiel, Niko feels well. The flat looks good (what a beautiful Tour Eiffel made from Lego pieces!!!), the family, his family, is also "there". On the walls, evidently.
Midnight: After an excellent dinner (I don´t lie) and a good coffee, it is time to go to bed. Isn´t it too early for it? "It is strange. I am not one who goes early in bed. But I don´t overreact either. And more than this tomorrow I have to be to training at 9 o´clock". Tchüss...
Saturday, 4th October
8:20: We can´t really say that Nikola is a friend of waking up early in the morning. His hair is tousled, he puts on his training clothes, swallows a big cup of cornflakes, drinks a coffee, take his bag. Here we go....
9 o´clock: Here we are! Did you expect to see a very modern training hall? A unique place only for the Kieler? No way...We find ourselves in the "Grundschule Russee", a scholl like many others in Germany. The hall is spartiate, has hundred of lines on the soil. But the Kieler accommodate...
9:20: One cames too late! "F..., I forgot that we have video. The bill will be expensive"...It is Igor Anic, totally in panic. "The bill will be expensive", that´s because at Kiel, as at numerous europeans clubs, every delay is the equivalent of a fine. And believe me, 20 minutes of coming too late will be very, very expensive.
12:05: Ar last done..."It took long today, says Niko. But tomorrow a big clash waites for us. We repeated the tactical moves who had to bring problems to the defence an attack of Hamburg. We are ready for the game. In any case, that´s my feeling.."
Niko and Titi leave the parking area of the school and go to have a coffee.
14:00: A salat and a soda a bit later and Niko seems fresh. He "shoots" a reportage. It is Antoine Le Roy, the famous reporter of Canal+, and Antoine Garcia, his cameraman which follow him. The journalist finds a superb decor. Niko feels very well in this role. We can even say that he "shoots" his entire life because he fits well in the role. By the way, the broadcast is called "Intérieur Sport" and it can be watched in France, Canal+, on 10 January.
18:00: Four hours of shooting. "When I saw that Nikola began to tremble, I said to myself that maybe it was the time to stop it. I don´t want to be responsible of some illnes." Niko smiles, Antoine, too. We go to a small bar placed just in front of Sparkassen-Arena. It will be there tomorrow where we will watch the clash of this 7th round. "Come on, guys, we take a hot chocolate and then we go to a restaurant! Igor will join us there..."
21:00: Niko orders himself a meal based on meat cooked in the Italian style. They are numerous the clients who recognised Nikola, Kiel´s idol. A little boy, totally shy, comes closer and says in a perfect French: "Excuse-me, may I get an autograph?"
"Of course, you may. Do you speak French? Where are you from?
"I live hier, but my mothers comes from Nice. Thank you, mister, and good luck tomorrow."
23.00: We are back to Nikola´s place. He has already his toothbrush between his teeth. He checks shortly his emails and after it goes to sleep. "By tomorrow, guys. Sleep well, you will need it."
